The Faith Dice is a 1d6 die representing a character’s spiritual conviction and belief. It sits visibly on the table, showing the character’s current faith level. The value on the Faith Dice influences how the character interacts with the world and shapes their actions. In extraordinary moments, the character can call upon their Devotion to achieve greatness—but at the risk of destabilizing or even losing their faith entirely.
The Faith Dice is adjusted manually based on the character’s actions, experiences, and the unfolding story:
When the Faith Dice shows 6, the player may call upon their Devotion to achieve extraordinary results in a critical moment. However, this comes with the risk of altering their faith level, possibly leading to doubt or even complete loss of faith.
The Leader plays a critical role in managing the Faith Dice system, ensuring it contributes to rich storytelling:
At the beginning of play, the Leader and the player decide the Faith Dice’s starting value (between 1 and 6) based on the character’s background, story, and relationship to their faith.

0: Faithless – Surrendering the Dice: When the Faith Dice is reduced to 0, the player must immediately hand it to the Leader.
This signifies that the character has lost their faith entirely and can no longer rely on it.
Getting the Dice Back: Whether the player regains their Faith Dice depends entirely on the story. In principle, the Faith Dice is lost forever, but if the narrative provides a moment of spiritual renewal or rediscovery, the Leader may choose to return it to the player.
Impact on the Game: Losing the Faith Dice should be a transformative moment for the character, shaping their actions and interactions moving forward.
Alric: “I kneel beside the lifeless body of the young woman. My hands rest on her chest. ‘O Divine Flame, giver of life, I beseech you—bring her back to us.’ I call upon the Light to perform Resurrection.”
Leader: “Alric, your Faith Dice is at 6. This act is extraordinary, far beyond ordinary miracles. If you choose to invoke your Devotion, the action will succeed automatically, but you must roll the Faith Dice afterward. The result will determine your new faith level—this could lead to doubt or even total loss of faith. Will you risk it?”
Alric: (Clenches his jaw, gripping his holy symbol tightly) “This young woman deserves another chance at life. I cannot let her go. I invoke my Devotion. The Light must answer.”
Leader: (Nods solemnly) “Your choice is made. The Light answers your call. A warm, golden glow spreads from your hands, enveloping her lifeless body. The villagers around you fall silent, some weeping, others whispering prayers. After a moment of unbearable tension, her chest rises with a deep, shuddering breath. Her eyes flutter open, bright and alive. Murmurs of astonishment and relief ripple through the crowd. It is a miracle.”
Alric: (Breathes heavily, his hands trembling) “She lives. Thank you, O Divine Flame…”
Leader: “But now, Alric, the price must be paid. Roll your Faith Dice.”
Alric: (Rolls the Faith Dice, landing a 1.) (His breath catches, and his face pales.) “No… no, this can’t be. The Light… it’s gone?”
Leader: “Yes. As the light fades, you feel a terrible emptiness. Your connection to the Light shatters, and you are left with nothing. You must surrender your Faith Dice to me.”
Alric: (Hands over the dice slowly, his voice trembling with anguish) “Alric rises unsteadily, his hands trembling. He looks at the young woman, alive and safe, but inside, he feels utterly hollow. ‘She is saved… but I… I am forsaken.’”
Leader: “The villagers gaze at you with awe and gratitude, unaware of the personal sacrifice you’ve made. To them, you are a hero. To you, this is a moment of profound loss—your faith, your purpose, has been stripped away. What do you do next?”
Alric: (Lifts his gaze to the sky, his expression hardening) “I will go on. If the Light has abandoned me, then I will find my way back to it. Somehow.”
