Core Rule
Unified Tag Language (UTL) is a system where players and leaders can describe, props, characters, NPC and relations in the game without predefined sheets or forms. This approach allows crafting intricate narratives and define their roles in the story through descriptive tags.
This is where your adventure begins—where players gather to create, explore, and bring their stories to life. Use this space to organize your game and ensure everyone is on the same page before diving into the narrative.
Start by bringing your players to the table. This is the foundation of your game where ideas are shared, roles are discussed, and the group aligns on expectations. Ensure everyone understands the setup and is ready to contribute their unique perspective to the story.
Next, choose or design one or more frames that suit the story you want to tell. A frame sets the boundaries of the world—its themes, atmosphere, and core structure. Whether it’s a sprawling fantasy realm, a cyberpunk cityscape, or something entirely unique, the frame is the skeleton that supports your narrative.
Understand and implement the Meta, Macro, and Micro loops that will guide the flow of your game.
– Meta Loops involve everything that happens around and outside of the game itself. This includes out-of-game discussions, player motivations, group dynamics, and the overarching goals of the gaming sessions. Meta loops help ensure that the experience stays enjoyable for everyone and that the game’s purpose and direction are aligned with the players’ expectations.
– Macro Loops manage how the Game Master (GM) drives the story. These loops handle the pacing, direction, and structure of the narrative, ensuring that the GM keeps the story progressing in a dynamic and engaging way.
– Micro Loops ensure that the moment-to-moment gameplay keeps everyone engaged, focusing on interactions, actions, and decisions at the player level.
Mastering these loops will keep your game flowing smoothly, balancing the needs of the story with player engagement.
Finally, customize your game by adding extra rules to suit the needs and preferences of your group. These modifications help expand the role-playing experience, letting you tailor it perfectly to your team’s playstyle. Whether you’re adding homebrew mechanics or tweaking existing systems, rules allow you to enrich the game world and sharpen the experience.
Once everything is in place, you’re ready to dive into your story. Let your imagination roam, and let the world you’ve built with your players come to life.
Welcome to The Table. Your adventure starts now!
